Scilio (CATANIA)
The vineyards of Tenuta Scilio di Valle Galfina lie in the province of Catania, on the north eastern side of Mount Etna at 650 m a.s.l. almost exactly half way between the summit and Taormina. Vine growing traditions here stretch back to antiquity and the wines are made from organically cultivated indigenous grapes, vinified using the most modern techniques. This is reflected in the wines which taste refreshingly different, interesting, clean and clear.
Elizabeth - originally from Malta so she speaks perfect English - maintains an excellent small villa at which you can arrange to stay. It's about 50km from Catania airport and is the perfect location for exploring the whole Etna area including Taormina.
