Ca’San Carlo (ASTI)
In its present form, this Azienda was founded in 1968 with the marriage of Angelo Monzeglio and Maria Teresa Rollino who gradually reunited old family lands so that today, the estate has reacquired its 1800 boundaries. The two sons, Achille and Alessio, brought up surrounded by vines, continue to build on the achievements of their parents. Cultivation techniques are environmentally friendly; quite apart from consumer health issues, Achille points out that they and their families have to live there so synthetic chemical contamination is a no no! The sun may shine all day long in summer but it certainly doesn’t shine all year round. That’s why there’s a blazing fire in the old fireplace on the many cold and foggy days of winter, making the Monzeglio welcome doubly warm. Make a quick phone call in advance, if you can, should you wish to visit. But if you drive by and see the gate open, you’ll be more than welcome.
