Barni (BIELLA)
Season after season since the early 1990’s, GIUSEPPE FILIPPO BARNI Barni has been restoring traditional vines in this stony, rocky valley with its splendid microclimate in the Brusnengo hills in the province of Biella in northern Piemonte. Abandoned for almost 100 years, the immediate locality retains a rich heritage of ancient vines, rescued from near extinction. The Coste della Sesia DOC was established in 1996 to officially recognise the efforts and results of a small number of local producers who have worked so hard to restore these valuable vines. Looking back, Sig. Barni says he must have been insane at the time he began this adventure considering the sheer amount of work involved. Today he’s very satisfied with the results.
