Gutturnio is the classic red wine of the Colli Piacentini and takes its name from a two-handled Roman drinking cup unearthed there. This Classico 2006 from specialist producer Laura Cardinali is made from Barbera and Croatina harvested from the Nicchio vineyard. 10% minimally matured in new oak 'botti'
Expressive and harmonious nose of small ripe red berries and a clementine-like fragrance. A dry, fruity sensation, some chocolate, elegantly tannic structure. Youthful and vibrant as evidenced by the spectacular colour. Best mid-2008 onwards but likely to be permanently sold-out by then.
Dark ruby red, full bodied briefly matured, Barbera 60% Croatina 40%, ABV 14%, serve 18 to 20oC
